Though my own week was hugely eventful theatre-wise, it's been fairly quiet on the news front. Nevertheless, here are the biggest news stories that have been circulating over the past 7 days.
PRIMA FACIE UK Tour Announced starring Jodie Comer

It has been revealed that, following sold out runs on both the west end and broadway, that yielded Olivier and Tony awards, Jodie Comer will be taking “Prima Facie” on the road around the UK in 2026. Initial venues have also been announced, with the tour commencing in Richmond (Richmond Theatre), before playing Dublin (Gaeity Theatre), Edinburgh (Edinburgh Lyceum), Cardiff (New Theatre), York (Grand Opera House), Bath (Theatre Royal), Canterbury (Marlowe), Birmingham (Birmingham Rep) and Liverpool (Playhouse Theatre).
Tickets will go on general sale from the 27th of March.
MEAN GIRLS THE MUSICAL
UK Tour Announced

After a successful run at London's Savoy Theatre, the producers of “Mean Girls: The Musical” have revealed the show is set to tour the UK, following its west end closure on the 8th of June. Based on the 2004 Tina Fey film about a girl who moves back to the US after living in Africa for most of her life, the musical opened in London on the 5th of June 2024, and it will have run for just short of a year once it wraps up; further details, including cast and creative team to be announced.
Mean Girls first premiered in Washington D.C. at the National Theatre in 2017, before opening at broadway's August Wilson Theatre (the current home of Cabaret) the following year, where it ran for one day short of two years before closing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It did not reopen, however did embark on a US tour in 2023. The broadway production most notably marked the broadway debut of both Reneé Rapp and Sabrina Carpenter, however the show closed only two nights into the latter's run.
SOMETHING ROTTEN!
Full west end premiere announced

It has been announced that the Karey and Wayne Kirkpatrick musical "Something Rotten!" will receive its fully staged west end debut in 2026, following two sold-out concert performances in summer 2024 at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, which starred Jason Manford, Marisha Wallace, Evelyn Hoskins and Richard Fleeshman. The show is set in 1595, and follows the Bottom brothers in their attempt to out-shine Shakespeare by staging the first ever musical.
Something Rotten! premiered on broadway in 2025, where it was nominated for 10 Tony awards, winning for featured actor for Christian Borle. Further details of the west end production, including venue, cast and creative team, will be revealed in due course.
