NEWS ROUNDUP: 7 - 13 April

As one week ends and another one begins, it's time to have a look back at the news stories that have rocked the world of theatre since this time last week; it may have been quiet, but there have still been stories enough to keep us occupied.


CLUELESS: THE MUSICAL

London run extended into 2026

Due to overwhelming demand, the London run of "Clueless: The Musical" has extended its run at the Trafalgar Theatre to March 2026, following initial plans to only play into the summer. The show premiered at the Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre off-broadway, but as a jukebox musical featuring songs from 90s artists like Ace of Base, N'SYNC, TLC and Blink-182. It was reimagined with new original music by KT Tunstall and Glenn Slater, and, after a trial run in Bromley, opened in the west end on the 13th of March.


"Clueless" is now booking until the 28th of March 2026 at the Trafalgar Theatre, with tickets now available from the ATG website.


GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY

London return announced

It has been revealed by the Old Vic that the Tony and Olivier winning Conor McPherson and Bob Dylan musical “Girl From The North Country” is set to return this summer. The show premiered at the Old Vic in 2017, later transferring to broadway three years later, and subsequently touring the UK, and playing internationally, including in Australia and Canada.


Girl From The North Country” will return to the Old Vic for a limited nine-week run, opening on the 24th of June, and running until the 23rd of August. Further details including casting is to be announced at a later date, and tickets can be booked now via the Old Vic website.


EVITA

It was announced earlier last by the Jamie Lloyd Company that Diego Andres Rodriguez, who recently made his professional debut in the current broadway revival of “Sunset Boulevard”, is set to join the London cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical “Evita” at the London Palladium, playing the role of Che.


It will be Rodriguez’s west end debut, as he joins previously announced Rachel Zegler (Romeo + Juliet), who will play Eva Peron, in one of this summer’s most hotly anticipated productions. Evita will run from the 14th of June until the 6th of September, with press night on the 1st of July, with tickets currently on sale from the LW Theatres website. Further casting will be announced at a later date.


ALL MY SONS

Major London revival + initial casting

A major new revival of Arthur Miller’s play “All My Sons” has been announced for this autumn directed by Ivo Van Hove, with initial casting revealed to include Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston, as well as Marianne Jean-Baptiste (The Amen Corner) and Paapa Essiedu (Death of England). This is the third London revival of the play in 15 years, with prior productions at the Apollo Theatre in 2010, and the Old Vic in 2019, playing to critical acclaim.


"All My Sons" will play at Wyndham’s Theatre in the west end from the 14th of November until the 7th of February, in a strictly limited 12-week run. Further details, including full cast and creatives, will be announced at a later date, and tickets are now on sale from the Delfont Mackintosh website.


BORN WITH TEETH

New play starring Ncuti Gatwa and Edward Bluemel

It has been announced that Ncuti Gatwa and Edward Bluemel are set to star in a west end premiere of Liz Duffy Adams’ play “Born With Teeth”, produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company. The two-man play explores the relationship between William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe, and their late 16th century rivalry.


"Born With Teeth" will open at Wyndham’s Theatre on the 13th of August, and run until the 1st of November, with priority booking currently available to DMT+ members, and tickets going on general sale from the 16th of April; booking info can be found on the Delfont Mackintosh website.
