This week we turn to a modern day musical sensation that dominated at the 66th Tony Awards, the Glen Hansard, Markéta Irglová and Edna Walsh musical "Once", based on the 2007 film of the same name that also starred and had music written by both Hansard and Irglovà. It is best described as an unconventional, yet sweet love story between two struggling musicians in Dublin, Ireland brought together by their mutual love, and desire to help others.

It premiered at the New York Theatre Workshop off-broadway in 2011, and was an instant critical and commercial hit; it transferred to the Bernard B. Jacobs theatre on broadway the following year, where it ran for 3 years and over 1000 performances, earning itself 8 wins from 11 nominations at the Tony Awards that year, including best new musical. It has since run at the Phoenix Theatre in the west end, as well as touring both the UK and US, and also performing in Ireland, Australia, South Korea, Argentina, Canada and Brazil among others; Once has become a truly global hit.
